Your Ceremony

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding celebration! Your wedding is a big deal, and choosing the right officiant is important. I am non denominational, and I am LGBT friendly. I am delighted to perform services for any happy couple for a wedding, elopement, vow renewal or commitment ceremony.

Your celebration doesn’t have to be a huge event. Whether it’s just the two of you and your witnesses, or even a small group of friends, eloping is a beautiful and very intimate way to say, “I do." There’s less planning involved with eloping, and much less stress. And with less planning, there’s more time to have fun here on our beautiful OBX beaches!

I am available year round, on any day of the week, in the Manteo, Wanchese, Nags Head and Coquina Beach areas of the Outer Banks. Come on down to the sand, and let’s get your Wedding Knots Tied!

Manteo, Wanchese, Nags Head, Coquina Beach areas – $299

Wedding Knots Tied is also available for ceremonies in other parts of the Outer Banks. For ceremonies in Kitty Hawk, and Rodanthe, an additional $150 travel fee will apply. For ceremonies in Southern Shores, Corolla, Waves, Salvo, and Avon, an additional $200 travel fee will apply. For ceremonies in Hatteras, an additional $225 travel fee will apply. For ceremonies on Ocracoke, the total fee will be $600. I do not travel to the 4x4 area of Corolla.

Any and all monies paid towards your ceremony, are non-refundable. If the ceremony cannot be performed due to weather or other extenuating circumstances on your reserved date and time, every effort will be made to reschedule. Your payment indicates your understanding of, and acceptance of these terms.

Time

On the day of your ceremony, please be mindful of your start time. While it is your big day, other people have made arrangements to be available exclusively to you, at the time you specified. Many brides believe that they are expected to show up “fashionably late” for their service. While a short delay is often unavoidable, waiting for longer than fifteen minutes to begin your ceremony is inconsiderate of the vendors’, and your guests’ time. While I will do my very best to accommodate you in the event of a delay, there is the possibility that I will be unable to stay longer than thirty minutes past your start time. Should this be the case, I will work with you to reschedule your event.

Payment Portals

Once booking is completed, an invoice will be sent to you, via Square.

Once your payment has been received, your ceremony will be emailed to you for any edits you may desire.

Note: Any and all money paid towards your ceremony is non-refundable. If ceremony cannot be performed on your date and time, every effort will be made to reschedule. Your payment indicates your understanding of, and acceptance of these terms.

Rehearsal

A rehearsal is a good way to ensure a stress-free ceremony, and to be certain that everyone knows where to stand, and what to do when the time comes. Small, but important details, such as what the groomsmen should do with their hands while they stand alongside the groom, as well as the height at which the bride and bridesmaids should carry their bouquets in order to look good in the photos, are easily addressed in a thirty minute rehearsal. Additionally, it provides the opportunity for everyone to get comfortable with your officiant before your big moment arrives.

Manteo, Wanchese, Nags Head, Coquina Beach areas – $150

Coordinator

Day-Of Wedding Coordinator

Hiring a day of coordinator will alleviate a lot of the stress associated with the final days of event planning, as well as reduce the pressure often associated with day-of logistics. The wedding couple should be able to enjoy their special day, without worrying about the details during the celebration. A day-of wedding coordinator is the person responsible for making sure the big day goes smoothly. The coordinator’s role includes overseeing vendors, managing the timeline, and overcoming any last-minute challenges that arise during the festivities.

Marriage License

Don’t forget your marriage license! If you plan to be married in the state of North Carolina, you must obtain your marriage license in North Carolina as well. It will be valid, regardless of the state you live in. Click here for marriage license requirements in Dare County, NC.

Permits

There is nothing quite like the salt breeze and the sounds of the ocean on your wedding day. But there are different requirements along the Outer Banks, to have a ceremony on the beaches. If you are renting a house on the OBX, and you plan to host your ceremony there, be sure to ask your rental agent if there are any permits or policies you need to be aware of ahead of time. Obtaining the correct permit in advance is the responsibility of the couple getting married.

Cape Hatteras National Seashore, which includes beaches south of South Nags Head: Event permit is required.

Cost: $100/$200, depending on the number of people, and equipment needed. (252-473-7868)

Application must be received 30 days in advance of event.

Note: if a citation is issued for not having a permit, payment of the cost of the citation, in addition to the cost of a permit will be required. Click here for more information.

Rev Melody

I have often heard it said, “Do what you love, and love what you do.” I sincerely enjoy performing wedding ceremonies. As the officiant, I get to see the smiles and the tears of the happy couple. I get to share their little bubble of joy, up close, for the fifteen minutes or so that the ceremony lasts. And I love that. I still get goose bumps every single time I begin a wedding service.

I am non denominational, and I am LGBT friendly. I am delighted to perform services for any happy couple for a wedding, elopement, vow renewal or commitment ceremony.

I am available all year, and all seven days of the week, in the Nags Head, Wanchese, Manteo and Coquina Beach areas of the Outer Banks. Pack your flipfops, head to the OBX, and let’s get your Wedding Knots Tied!
